IT’S FINALLY HERE – World Cruise 2024!

We’re off! Well, to clarify, WE are off, but the blog has been a bit slower in “taking off”. Thanks to all for their patience – I finally have a rough version of the blog posted. Please bear with me – between my learning curve, our busy schedule, and Azamara’s internet speed, this will be a “work in progress”! The good news is that since the structure is complete, the updates will come much faster. I am initially posting with the first three legs complete, and the next two legs should come within the next week or so. Then I will be up to date! Yay!

To begin – some basic information:

Our current voyage is on the Azamara Onward – a small cruise ship with a 680 passenger capacity. The full journey is 166 days, divided into 11 legs. We visit 40 countries on six continents. There are approximately 200 passengers that are on the full world voyage, with the rest embarking and disembarking on the various segments.

Of course, with the state of the world, we are waiting to see if we can complete the Red Sea portion and the Suez Canal (the first half of segment 8). Fingers crossed!

UPDATE: Of course, we are not going through the Suez Canal – Azamara will depart from the published itinerary in Dubai, and head around Africa, rejoining the published itinerary in Venice. During the 34 days of the “repositioning cruise”, there will only be six stops – Maritius, South Africa, Namibia, Grand Canaria, Tunisia and Corfu. We were given the option of ending our cruise in Dubai, or continuing on the repositioning cruise – either way with full refunds for the missed legs. Of course, we are continuing on with the cruise – what an adventure this is!

To follow our journey, select the “leg” button under the ship. Thanks to all of our friends and family for coming along with us – we are delighted that you are here!
