As you’ve noticed, the publishing of this blog continues to be lagging. Part of the problem is the slow internet that we experience in some parts of the world we are in. To counter this, I’m moving to a different strategy on publishing. I’ll have a short description under each day, and a link to the detailed description of each day with highlight photos. Using this methodology, I don’t have to upload photos from the cloud to my internet server.
Day 77 – March 22 – Hong Kong
We finally make it to Hong Kong after being delayed one day. Fortunately, we were scheduled to be here two days, so we don’t miss the port completely! We have a full day to explore on our own, which we take advantage of. We arrive back at the ship just before the light show at Victoria Harbor, which we watch before we sail away.
For a full description of our day – click on the picture of Hong Kong below.
Day 79 – March 24 – Halong Bay, Vietnam Day 1
Halong Bay – one of the most picturesque bays in the world! We visited here around 15 years ago, and we’re looking forward to visiting again. On the first day, we head straight out to to sail the Bay on a Private excursion with our friends. Click on either picture to see the details.
Day 80 – March 25 – Halong Bay, Vietnam Day 2
We explore Halong City today. We’ve now explored the Bay in two different trips, so it’s time to have a look at the town. You know the drill – click on the picture below to see the highlight pics & text.
Day 81 – March 26 – Danang, Vietnam
We are very excited to visit Danang today, as it is reknown for a pedestrian bridge that we have been wanting to see. We saw that, and so much more, including a dragon bridge. The link can be found by clicking on the “hand bridge” picture below.
Day 83 – March 28 – Ho Chi Minh City Day 1
Wow – what an amazing day we had today! We became familiar with Caodaism – a religion that we had never heard of – and saw their unique church. Later, we visited the Ho Chi Minh Tunnels – used in the Vietnam War, or American War, depending you your perspective. I’ve included two pics below to tease you, but please click on the link in either picture to get the full details of this amazing day!
Day 84 – March 29 – Ho Chi Minh City Day 2
On our second day in Ho Chi Minh City, we joined a walking tour to see the town highlights. This is where we see sights from the war’s headquarters, as well as the building roof from where the last American helicopter left. For more detail – click on either picture. To
Day 85 – March 30 – At Sea
Today, we celebrate the birthday of one of our new friends, John. We have a special dinner in Prime C, followed by coctails in the Atlas Bar. Even the sunset celebrated with beautiful colors!
Day 86 – March 31 – Bangkok Day 1 of 3
As we’re staying in Bangkok for three days, we decide to make the first day a leisurely one. We explore the city on our own, seeing many temples that we’ve seen before. For the full show, click on any one of the following three pictures.
Day 87 – April 1 – Bangkok Day 2
Our second day in Bangkok is very busy!! We visit the Summer Palace – a palace complex formerly used by the Thai kings, and then continue on to see ruins of the second capital of the Siamese Kingdom, Ayutthaya. These are really cool sites, so please don’t miss the picures – links in the photos below!
Day 88 – April 2 – Bangkok Day 3
OK – even though the title of this section is Bangkok, there are no pictures of Bangkok. That is because we have been exploring Bangkok for two days, and we’re tired! However, we do manage to host our first ever “Suite Party”! Our Butler, Roy, brings cheese and crackers, and we provide the cocktails and wine. Since we receive complimentory spirits in our cabin, we’re looking for a way to “utilize” them, and we find the perfect people willing to oblige!
Day 89 – April 3 – Koh Samui
This is a new port for us, KOh Samui, Thailand. We’ve very excited to explore a new Thai city, and it meets all expectations! From Clay Temples, to finding our own personal Buddhas, the day produced amazing sites and experiences. The link (in the picture below) will take you to all of the fabulous pictures!
Day 90 – April 4 – Sea Day
We had a special dinner tonight. Our Food and Beverage Director, Iwan, arranged a special dinner on the deck with some of the women on the World Cruise. We think that he just wanted to have dinner with ten women, but we’re happy that he did. Dinner was spectacular – served by Chef Agun.
Day 91 – April 5 – Singapore
Singapore – one of favorite cities! If you’ve ever watched “Crazy Rich Asians”, you will recognize where we spent our evening. Of course, that was after a full day of touring the city! If I’ve engaged your curiosity, click on the picture below for details of our fabulous day!
YES – we’ve completed leg 6. Onward to leg 7 – visiting India and Sri Lanka, ending in Dubai. Some world cruisers will end their adventure in Dubai, as that is where our itinerary will divert around Africa. In that perspective, this is the last leg that all World Cruisers will be together – so let’s make the most of it!
