Pre-Cruise
We leave two days before we embark, not knowing what Chicago weather may have in store for us, as we don’t want to miss seeing Kool and the Gang performing in the grand gala on January 7. Beginning in the AA Admirals Club, we have our traditional Bloody Mary celebration drinks.
We arrived in Miami after a two hour flight delay – not bad, really! We were happy that we were in First Class (thanks, Regent!) so we had no shortage of food or drinks.
Upon arrival in Miami, we check in to the Sheraton, and head directly out to to the closest Walgreens. Our strategy is to buy big bottles of toiletries – shampoo, contact lens solution, body lotion, etc. This saves us at least several pounds, allowing for a few more outfits!
The next day, our travel agent Richard picks up us (and our bags), and treats us to a lovely lunch in Coral Gables. After lunch, he drops us off at the Host Hotel, the Miami Biltmore. We take a walk around the grounds in the afternoon, it is an amazing hotel! I’ve included some pictures below.
Tonight is the welcome cocktail party, as all World Cruise guests will be staying in the Biltmore tonight. What a lovely beginning for our adventure!
